Welcome
In the heart of Tipton St. John, a picturesque village set in the glorious countryside
of East Devon on the River Otter, you will find the delightful Golden Lion Inn.
With charmingly eclectic décor, where art deco prints and Tiffany lamps jostle for space
alongside paintings by Cornish and Devon artists, the pub manages to retain
that traditional pub feel with wooden beams, stone interior walls and a blazing log fire.
Hosts Francois and Michelle Teissier welcome customers with their extensive menu
comprising the highest quality British, Mediterranean and rustic French cooking.
With the Georgian seaside town of Sidmouth just 3 miles away, expect daily specials
of the freshest fish and seafood with menu changes according to the season
and what local produce is most readily available.
The Inn can accommodate approximately 60 diners and, in the summer, a further 100 people
can be accommodated outside where traditional meets the Med with a grassy beer garden
plus a terracotta-walled terrace area with tumbling grapevines.
At the Golden Lion, customers are equally at home whether dropping in for a pint
of locally brewed Otter ale, filling up on home made Steak and Ale pie after
a hard day's walking or relaxing Al Fresco with Moules Marinières and a cold glass of Chablis!
